Selection Cameroon U17 falls through the basket: 21 players turn out to be too old to play for the team | Football

FootballA bizarre incident occurred in the run-up to the qualifying period for the Africa Cup with the Cameroonian team under 17 years old. Of the total selection of thirty players, more than seventy (!) Percent of the players turned out to be too old to play in the team after tests. The players are immediately kicked out of the player group.

It is not the first time that personal data has been tampered with in Cameroon. That is why the Cameroon Football Association carried out several MRI tests in the run-up to the qualifying tournament of the Africa Cup to determine the age of the selection players. Bot tests can be used to estimate how old a player is.

The tests had a bizarre outcome, because 21 of the thirty players turned out to be too old to play for the U17, the Cameroon Football Association reports in a statement. The players were then immediately removed from the squad. In the statement, the football association also speaks out against this form of fraud, which, according to the association, “in the past tarnished the image of Cameroonian football.”
