Seattle Mariners agree to AJ Pollock for one year, $7 million

The Seattle Mariners agreed with outfielder AJ Pollock for one season and $7 million, strengthening their lineup with a hitter specializing in left-handed pitching.

Pollock hit a .245/.292/.389 batting line with 14 home runs, 26 doubles, 56 RBIs and a .681 OPS with the White Sox in 2022, the year in which he earned $5 million in salary.

In his internship with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the outfielder posted a .282/.337/.519 offensive line with 52 home runs, 150 RBIs and 16 steals in 258 games.

Pollock is a Gold Glove winner, a 2020 World Series winner with the Los Angeles Dodgers and an All-Star invite, so Seattle gets one of the best rangers on the market. In turn, his .868 career OPS against lefties makes him a very interesting weapon.

In 11 seasons in the majors, Pollock has played primarily left and center fielder, seeing action at right fielder in just 20 games. As a centerfielder he has 5,783.2 innings and 1,510 chances, committing only 11 errors; and as a leftfielder he has 1,996.0 innings and 398 chances, committing only 5 blunders.
