Salvadorans Paola Corado and Roberto Hernandez stand out at World Archeru Americas – Diario La Página

The Salvadoran Paola Corado was chosen as the best archer of the American continent of 2022, in the female U21 composite category, at the World Archery Americas awards.

From Salvadoran archery, Roberto Hernández was also chosen as the best coach of the continent in 2022, an appointment that the Santaneco goalkeeper received with pride.

«I am very happy, it has been the fruit of the work not only mine but the work of all my archers and they are the ones who have put into action the things we have planned together. Glad to be with this recognition for the first time as the best coach on the continent. It encourages me to continue working with the boys and that the results are given at a national and international level,” said Roberto Hernández, Paola Corado’s coach.

World Archery Americas made official yesterday the list of the 19 winners of the 2022 awards and among them the two Salvadoran archers stood out.

“This recognition from the Pan American Archery Confederation makes me feel very happy and that they recognize all the achievements of last year motivates me to continue working to be one of the best archers in the Americas and the world,” said Corado.

Regarding the Salvadoran archer, World Archery highlighted the gold medal in the Veronica’s Cup 2022 and the two Pan American silver medals.

On the gold medal at the Veronica’s Cup 2022, which was held in Kamnik, Slovenia in early May, Paola defeated Slovenian Toja Elisson 144-143 in the final.

The athlete, who lives in Mérida, Mexico, also won the silver medal, after losing 142-146 to the American Paige Pearce, in the compound bow final of the Pan American Archery Championship that took place in Santiago de Chile, in November 2022.

In June, Paola also had an outstanding participation in the Youth Pan American Games in Halifax, Canada, qualifying for the final after defeating the American Hatley Hatleved in the semifinals with a score of 144-132. In the end, the Salvadoran added silver to her record.

Another achievement of the national archer was climbing 17 positions and placing herself in box number 22, with 129 points, in the world ranking of the women’s compound bow, according to the December update published on the World Archery website.

In October and November, Corado was ranked number 39 and managed to jump to 22nd place, which places her as the best Salvadoran archer on the world list and the sixth best in America.
