Point guard Fred VanVleet reportedly postponed discussions for a new contract with the Toronto Raptors, despite a very generous offer from the team before the 2022-2023 season.

According to Sportsnet network journalist Michael Grange, the Queen City team has submitted a four-year, $114 million pact to the star player. The VanVleet clan would not have refused this proposal, but it would have agreed with the management of the team to postpone the discussions until later.

Still according to the Canadian media, this amount would be the maximum that the franchise would be willing to pay.

The 28-year-old athlete will only become a free agent in 2024, since 2020 he has been on a four-season deal for $85 million.

VanVleet has struggled since the start of the season, averaging 18.8 points per game and just 37.7% on shots. The downtown throwing expert also shows his career-worst efficiency rate in this regard, with 32.5%.
