Prosecutors are also investigating against Grindel: DFB President no honorary post? | Sports

Next financial affair at the DFB!

According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV), the association should pay social security contributions (pension, unemployment, health and nursing care insurance) for its actually honorary members of the Executive Committee. There is a risk of high back payments. The “SZ” reported first.

On November 10, 2022, the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office initiated criminal proceedings against three former DFB bosses on “suspicion of withholding wages”. According to BILD information, those responsible are ex-president Reinhard Grindel (61), former treasurer Stephan Osnabrügge (52) and then general secretary Friedrich Curtius (47).

Background: The DFB had submitted an application for social security exemption from the pension insurance. This one was rejected! Since 2016, the DFB has wanted to have the DRV clarify in a status determination procedure whether its members of the executive committee are subject to social security contributions due to the expense allowance.

The clarification should be based on two sample cases: Peter Peters (60), who was a member of the DFB presidium as the head of the DFL supervisory board. And Hans-Dieter Drewitz (74), who sat on the committee as an amateur representative.

The DRV is of the opinion that the DFB has to pay social security contributions. In order to provide legal clarification, the DFB 2022, in consultation with the DRV, went to the Frankfurt Social Court.

The fact that the public prosecutor’s office has initiated criminal proceedings against the ex-DFB management trio is justified by the fact that a possible criminal statute of limitations should be interrupted.

What causes a great deal of misunderstanding at the DFB: Only an unfulfilled requirement could become statute-barred. So far, however, there has been no such thing against the DFB.
