SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jordan Poole hit the game-winning layup with a second to go in a crazy last minute and the Golden State Warriors rallied for a 122-120 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
Brandon Clarke had tied the score for Memphis with 6.3 seconds left on a dunk off Ja Morant’s pass after Klay Thompson’s 3-pointer with 14.6 seconds to go put the Warriors ahead. Thompson missed a basket with 5 seconds left on the clock.
Stephen Curry bested Morant in their personal matchup and chipped in 34 points before being ejected with 1:14 to go in another thrilling repeat of last year’s Western Conference semifinals, in which the Warriors prevailed in five games. .
Morant had 29 points and 12 assists after missing a game with an ankle injury. He had a pair of free throws with 26.6 seconds left that put Memphis ahead before Thompson’s 3-pointer.
Curry was ejected for throwing his mouth guard into the stands. “He knows he can’t make that mistake,” his coach, Steve Kerr, said after the game.
