PHOTO – Rare Nantes Arenzano and Eunike together for inclusive competitive sport

From tomorrow it will start at the municipal swimming pool of Arenzano a inclusive competitive sport project of particular value.

Thanks to the constant collaboration between Rare Nantes Arenzano and the association ASD Eunice, which has among its purposes that of creating opportunities to allow athletes with and without disabilities to train together and compete thus demonstrating their talent, the students of the De Calboli primary school of Arenzano will be able to carry out an inclusive path through swimming in the lane with athletes who in some cases are part of the National Special Olympics.
Special Olympics is an international sports program of training and competition for intellectually disabled athletes and non-disabled partners, of all ages and abilities. The program involves over 170 countries around the world. In Italy there are many teams affiliated to Special Olympics, including Eunike which is based in Albisola Superiore and which carries out activities in Savona, Albisola, Celle, Varazze, Arenzano and Carasco, with courses in athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, bocce, cycling , snowshoeing, deep water fitness, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, golf, walking groups, swimming, open water swimming, musicals, volleyball, skating, triathlon and multisport, open to all.

The project aims to make students learn the respect and acceptance of “the other” experimenting and making the most of different abilities, creating opportunities for direct knowledge, increasing willingness to welcome with the aim of intervene on injustices and avoid isolation educating to respect others by discovering the richness of relationships.
