Patrick Mahomes practiced after ankle injury

And ankle sprain will not be enough to leave out of the AFC Championship Game a Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs spoke to the media before the first practice before the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and declared that he was ready to test his articulation.

“I’m good, AFC Championship Game week, I’m ready for it,” Mahomes said. “Okay, it took a few days of treatment, rehabilitation. I’m excited to get to practice and try it out a bit to see where I am at, but so far I feel good.”.

The quarterback’s injury occurred during the first quarter of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round. Mahomes connected with tight end Blake Bell, but the defensive end Arden Key fell on his right leg. Coming off the sprained ankle, the 2022 MVP finalist completed 12 of 18 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.

The Texas Tech product noted that the injury is similar to the one he suffered in 2019. However, on that occasion the discomfort was in the left ankle.

Without limits

Head coach Andy Reid believes that their starting quarterback won’t be limited during workouts. Plus, he knows that as grueling as an NFL season is, it’s rare that no player gets hurt at this point.

“In the NFL, with all the games you play, it is very rare that you get to this point without an injuryReide said. “Most likely, he doesn’t do a few things. Maybe I should hold him back a bit, but knowing him, He will try to do everything he can and we’ll see what he can do.”.
