Oviedo is looking for a “spark” in the market: Vallejo and Garcés, objectives

Oviedo tries to climb positions in the table in a fitful rhythm, pushed in the Tartiere games and stuck in the away ones. While Cervera looks for the house potion to have effects at home, he looks askance at the offices to see if his demands for the winter market are satisfied. So far two pieces have arrived, but the important captures are missing, those for which the coach has been waiting for weeks: the team needs a “spark” up front if it wants to become a serious candidate to fight for the play-off. In a market as unpredictable as the winter one, two names appear underlined in the notes of the sports management: Manu Vallejo and Borja Garcés. They are not the only ones, but they are the most desired. The operations for their arrivals include, in that they agree, some difficulties.

About Manu Vallejo there are some doubts about his performance in recent times, without continuity in Valencia and Girona, and an absolute certainty: Cervera has been the coach who has gotten the most juice out of him.

Although he made his debut with Claudio as coach in a cup duel in Vigo on 15/16, it would not be until 18/19 when Vallejo would explode. With Cervera, the man from Cádiz excelled that course, with 8 goals scored in 33 games played, 31 of them as a starter.

It is the main guarantee to pursue a signing for which there are already elbows. His situation at Girona, where he has barely enjoyed two starts to date, invites us to think of an exit as a solution to his lack of prominence. This is how the Catalan team considers it, willing to give him a way out. But the footballer’s desire, for now, is to continue competing in the top flight. Given this position, Oviedo offers the security of the tenant of the bench, the person with whom he has performed best in his professional career.

Vallejo’s is one of those ripening operations. The arrival of the Ukrainian Tsygankov to reinforce the band may push him to make the decision to leave. In any case, it does not seem that his decision is imminent and that the remaining days of the market will have to be rushed until we know what happens with his immediate future. It would be another chapter in his operations resume: he signed with Alavés on loan and with Girona as property on the last market day in both cases.

Nor does the arrival of Borja Garcés seem easy. His contractual situation is what complicates an operation in which Oviedo, however, maintains moderate optimism. The possible arrival of another striker to Tenerife would facilitate the cancellation of his loan from Atleti. And that is where Oviedo would be well positioned to fight for his arrival.
