Ouch, that hurt. The face slapper went unpunished in England

The intervention took place in the 86th minute already at 2:2. Ibrahim Konaté fouled Wolverhampton forward Traoré, who fell to the turf. Liverpool’s left-back Robertson tried to jump over the lying opponent, but failed.

He stepped directly in the face of the Spanish striker with his left foot. He tried to move his face with a very pained grimace, and finally knocked himself out pretty quickly. Even though the Scottish full-back’s tackle was unintentional, many fans were calling for a red, or at least a yellow, card for him.

However, the referee only blew the whistle for Konaté’s foul and left the subsequent kicker unpunished. In the end, the match ended amicably 2:2, and advancing to the round of 16 of the cup, the rematch on the field of Wolves will decide.
