17-year-old Dominic Scheffler has signed a professional Major League Baseball (MLB) contract with the Cincinnati Reds. The pitcher, who was born in Zurich, is the first Swiss who was trained in Switzerland and signed a contract in the best baseball league in the world. Scheffler has already gained experience in Japan and Germany. He will complete his high school diploma in Regensburg before traveling to the USA at the end of June.
