One year later: what mark for Kent Hughes?

Having taken over the job a year ago, Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was quick to get down to work and made a lot of changes to get the team back on track.

A year later, what mark out of ten could be attributed to the work of the Quebec hockey man?

“It is high, nine-ten, honestly,” launched former Habs forward Mathieu Perreault on Thursday at “la Poche bleue le midi”.

“He managed to turn everything around and go back to rebuilding, all the gestures he made made a lot of sense and brought a lot to the Canadians, he added. His way of behaving with the media and the entourage of the team, he is really a gentleman.

“I give him an excellent rating,” then summed up the former number 85, who experienced the beginnings of Hughes’ reign last season.

St-Louis, the smoking gun

Asked to name the best shot made by Hughes since his arrival, Perreault did not hesitate.

“The arrival of Martin St-Louis,” he replied.

“No one saw it coming, that one,” he continued. He brought in a coach with little experience who completely changed the dynamic, the way of seeing things around the team, with an incredible vision of hockey.

“I loved this ‘move’, I was able to experience it, also mentioned Perreault. I still see what he brings.”
