Oliviero and his team from Indiaca born in Valcava make a name for themselves in Switzerland

From Valcava to Switzerland for an international Indiaca tournament. The protagonist is the team led by Oliviero Bravi, made up of a group of friends who are passionate about the sport of South American origins and widely practiced in Germany which is played, like volleyball or badminton, on a field divided by a net. A kind of ball is used which is hit with the hands and brought into play through a service. Each team can touch it a maximum of three times, then they must throw it over the net again, without letting it touch the ground. If one of the two teams makes a mistake, the opposing team gets a point and the next serve. The team from Valle San Martino conquered an excellent fourth place today in the 16-team competition which took place in the Chiasso sports centre.

“We have been practicing this sport right here in Valcava for several years, a sport perhaps still little known, but very entertaining – says Oliviero, owner of the La Cantinetta restaurant, located in the town of Torre De’ Busi at an altitude of 1,200 meters – These days we are managed to participate in an international Indiaca competition organized in Chiasso. We played about ten games and were only defeated in the semifinals, conquering a good fourth place which satisfies us”. Now the team of Indiaca di Valcava – or “pimpinello” as Oliviero pleasantly calls the game – is ready for new challenges. “We are also waiting for you here in the mountains for new tournaments. Indian passion is contagious”.
