Nóchez and Arévalo shine in the Tribute to Sports Stars – Diario La Página

Ivonne Nóchez and Marcelo Arévalo were the top winners last night at the XXXIII edition of the Espiga Dorada Tribute to Sports Stars, receiving recognition in the Star of the Year category in their respective branches.

“Congratulations to all our athletes, winners tonight of the Golden Spike, as well as stars and promises of the different sports disciplines. Thanks to the Fundación Educando a un Salvadoreño (FESA) and all its sponsors for rewarding the sports talent of our country”, the ad honorem president of INDES, Yamil Bukele, published on his Twitter account.

In addition to the 38 stars and 34 promises that received the award, there were also special prizes for the promises of the year, an honor that went to Rodrigo Ventura, swimming, and Elena Chávez, skating; the all-around athlete award went to José Alberto Rivas, from judo, and Cristina Machado, from table tennis.

Likewise, Roberto Hernández, from archery, was selected as coach of the year and Rafael Mejía, president of the Salvadoran Skating Federation, as sports leader of the year.

“This day is for all of you, those athletes from El Salvador who make an effort every day,” said Jorge Bahaia, president of FESA El Salvador, who added that “I continue to motivate athletes to continue giving their best effort, with higher goals. high and not enjoy in the short term, but see the long term. What really remains is what they have learned.”

For his part, the legal manager of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), Roberto Calderón, who participated on behalf of the ad honorem president of our institution, Yamil Bukele, also praised the athletes.

“Congratulations to the athletes for the effort they have made, that they have a recognition like the Golden Spike puts them at the top of the country,” Calderón expressed to the 38 stars and 34 promises that received the award.

In addition, FESA handed out the Culture and Sport prizes, which after a draw went to Roberto Hernández and Edith Quintanilla, archery and bowling stars, and to promising baseball players Samuel Avilés and badminton player Gabriela Revelo.
