San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was arrested Monday on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department.

Omenihu was incarcerated in Santa Clara County Jail and released after posting bail. Omenihu also received a restraining order.

Police arrived at a residence at 4:39 p.m. local time after a woman called to report that Omenihu, who is her boyfriend, allegedly pushed her to the ground during an argument. No visible injuries were seen on the woman, who complained of pain in her arm but refused to receive medical treatment, police said.

The case will go to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.

“We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are gathering further information,” the 49ers said in a statement.

Omenihu, 25, is a key member of the team’s defensive line rotation and has had 4.5 sacks this season. He also had two sacks and forced a fumble in the 49ers’ 41-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He played 15 games in the 49ers’ 19-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys on the weekend, but suffered an oblique injury. However, he was able to return to the game.

The 49ers will visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in the National Association Championship game.
