“I realize that life is very short and I don’t take any moment for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure. As a “side note,” the athlete adds: “I don’t think there’s a perfectly right path to take in life, but I’ve always felt that if you move forward with good intentions, you’ll eventually find your way.”

Osaka and the Grammy-nominated rapper began dating in 2019, and their first date was at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game. At that time, Cordae did not know that she was a tennis star and in an interview with GQ she explained: “If you were to ask me about tennis, before I dove into it for Naomi, I could only give you the names of Venus and Serena Williams. Because they’re a part of the culture.”

Cordae, formerly known as YBN Cordae and Understand, is an American rapper and songwriter who gained widespread popularity for remixes of hit songs like My name is, of Eminem, and Old niggas, by J. Cole. In 2019 she published her first album, The lost boy, which earned two Grammy Award nominations.

The artist became a great support for Osaka when she decided to get away from the noise of the different competitions and tennis tours to take care of her mental health. Although she has starred in fashion campaigns, the tennis player herself has acknowledged that she does not have the ability to address large audiences beyond the court.
