Municipality of Naples – A plaque for the European Junior Judo Champion Susy Scutto

The Councilor for Sport Emanuela Ferrante received at Palazzo San Giacomo the bronze medal at the last junior world championships of 2022 in Uzbekistan, Susy Scutto, Neapolitan, originally from Scampia, symbol of determination and redemption on the territory through sport.

During the ceremony she was given a plaque as a sign of “gratitude and admiration for the prestigious achievement”. The president of the VIII Municipality Nicola Nardella, the councilor Mariarosaria Marino, promoter of the initiative, the municipal and Metropolitan City Councilor Sergio Colella and the President of the Sport Commission Gennaro Esposito took part.

“In this year of work I have known many beautiful realities like that of your master Maddaloni” – has explained the Councilor for Sport Emanuela Ferrante – “I believe that there should be a garrison of this kind throughout our city, in all the Municipalities, because, as the Mayor also states, sport must not be so much competitive spirit and competition, but must above all be an investment for the social for this reason we wanted to make the bet of nominating Naples as European capital of sport 2026”.

“Susi as well as Zeudy Di Palma, Miss Italy 2022, represent two girls from Scampia who have become ambassadors of beauty and positive values” – he said the President of the Municipality 8 Scampia, Nicola Nardella – “in a territory that experiences a very strong stigma but which, thanks to experiences like these, manages to place itself in a different narrative”.

“I thank Susy for the luster she brings to the territory” – he observed the President of the Sport Commission Gennaro Esposito – “I would like to ask you to bring your experience to the schools of the eighth municipality to make it clear to the many kids, who if anything have distorted life models, how beautiful sport is and how many satisfactions and how many emotions it can give. I hope you can crown this experience with participation in the Olympics and we will be by your side as institutions”.

“Your experience is an important example for all young people” – he added Sergio Colella Municipal and Metropolitan Councilordelegate to sport and young people – “Precisely for this reason we are also committed to strengthening the network of gyms in the area, which are a fundamental safeguard”.

“Thank you for believing in me, and supporting my dreams” – concluded the young athlete, Susy Scutto – “I must admit that I have always been afraid to face life but on the tatami I have never felt small. I hope my example can make young people understand that sport can help you in life and make a big difference”.
