BAARN BC Inside’82 once again succeeded quite easily in winning the victory. The badminton players from Baarn won 7-1 against UVO-Spirit BV. The leader of the fifth division thus sends a strong signal to the pursuers: ,,We want to become champions.”
It was a cold weekend in the country. It was freezing outside. Then you would think that you would do well to practice an indoor sport. ,,Racquet center De Geeren is somehow not well insulated. When it’s freezing outside, you feel that’s the case inside too. Normally you take off your warm-up jacket during the match, but I left it on this time.”, says Anna van der Laan. “Fortunately, we finished this game very quickly. Within two hours we had played everything. Then we could take a shower, which was fortunately warm.
Because of the ninth victory, BC Inside’82 is firmly in the lead with 67 points after eleven games. Close attacker Gaasperdam 4 follows on 15 points with one game credit. Normally, such a lead should not be given away. A maximum of eight points can be scored per match.
Inside took seven of the eight possible points on Friday evening. ,,That was one less than in the first leg”, Van der Laan was still critical.
Van der Laan won the men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles and women’s singles. Only Kyra Hatzmann lost her match. Looking at the whole, Hatzmann is the one who most often drops points. There are a few explanations for that. ,,Kyra comes from a different level, so that sometimes takes some getting used to. Because she prefers to play a single, she takes her turn in the first, often stronger women’s match. We do this, because otherwise she will only have her first turn in the sixth game of the evening.”
Still, Van der Laan sees no reason to change the schedule. ,,We’ve been using this line-up all season. We’re first, so it’s going pretty well.”
Inside was therefore quickly done with the visitors from Gaasperdam. Toon van der Weel again showed his strength for the team. of the six sets he played, he conceded a maximum of five points in four of them: three times 21-4 and once 21-5. Partly thanks to him, Inside is in a seat for promotion to division 4. Van der Laan: ,,Becoming champion again would be nice. For some, this is the first time.”
