Manchester City successfully silenced Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The winning goal was scored by Riyad Mahrez in the second half.
Chelsea vs Man City will be presented on Matchday 18 of the Premier League, Friday (6/1/2023) in the morning WIB. The two teams played out a goalless draw in the first half.
Man City broke the deadlock in the second half through Riyad Mahrez. The goal was the only one that was created until the long whistle sounded.
This result made Man City cut the distance with Arsenal on the Premier League standings board. The Sky Blues collected 39 points, five points behind the Gunners at the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are still not moving in the mid-table. Graham Potter’s squad stuck in tenth position with 25 points.
Course of the Match
Disaster befell Raheem Sterling when the match had only been running for five minutes. The Chelsea bomber was injured and replaced by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The collision occurred when Christian Pulisic almost scored in the 17th minute. His attempt was thwarted by a John Stones tackle.
A tackle from Stones prevented Pulisic from continuing. He was replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka.

Man City got a golden opportunity in the 37th minute. Erling Haaland’s shot from close range still flew over the bar.
Chelsea almost broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute. Chukwuemeka’s low shot hit the post.
No goals were created until entering halftime. The first half closed goalless.
Both teams increased the intensity of their attacks at the start of the second half. Man City included Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez to add to the banging power.
The entry of Grealish and Mahrez paid off well for Man City. The visitors opened the scoring in the 63rd minute.

Grealish sent a pullback from the left which Mahrez tapped into a goal. Man City lead 1-0.
Chelsea tried to catch up in the remaining time available, but their efforts failed to produce results. The 1-0 score for Man City’s victory was the final result of the match.
