Luc Nilis becomes striker coach at Genk youth: “Bringing young players to the next level” | Jupiler Pro League

There is no doubt that the Genk youth will learn something from Luc Nilis. The former top striker is known for his velvet kicking technique and scored 254 times as a professional. Nilis especially made a big impression at PSV, where Brazilian goalgetter Ronaldo praised our compatriot as the best player he ever played with.

Now the now 55-year-old Nilis can pass on his knowledge and experience to the Genk talents. Nilis receives a contract for an indefinite period at KRC Genk and will be employed full-time. He will work in Genk with players from the U15.

“We are very proud to be able to employ Luc full-time in our
youth work,” says Head of Football Dimitri de Condé.

“In his active football career, Luc was a genius on the field. We are convinced that he will teach our young talents in the field of vista, (kick) technique and running lines the tricks of the trade and launch them for a nice
career.”

Nilis himself is also happy with his new job. KRC Genk’s youth academy enjoys worldwide fame.

“Many absolute world class players have laid the foundations of their glorious careers here. Proof was delivered yesterday at the Gala of the Golden Shoe. The entire top three of the best Belgians abroad have been trained in our Academy.”

“I hope to transfer my experience to the young players who are here today and take them to the next level.”
