ATLANTA – No. 4 Ohio State leads No. 1 Georgia 28-24 in the College Football Playoff semifinal half at the Beach Bowl. The Bulldogs found themselves holed up 21-7 midway through the second quarter, but pulled off 17 straight points to take the lead less than 2 minutes into halftime. Quarterback CJ Strode led the Buckeyes on a four-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a 37-yard touchdown to Xavier Johnson that gave OSU the lead at halftime.
A tale that until now has been a two-crime drama. The Bulldogs have a total of 313 yards and an average of 9.8 yards per play, while the Buckeyes have 248 and 7.8 yards per play. Stroud was 15-of-19 for 238 yards and three touchdowns, proving why he is a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.
There are two injury tips to look out for. Georgia was already without right tackle Warren McClendon, who suffered a leg injury in the SEC Championship Game. He missed Darnell Washington to an ankle injury; His return remains questionable and was ruled out by Washington ahead of further evaluation at halftime.
