Leclerc and Sainz at Fiorano, tests in January towards the World Cup – OA Sport

Ferrari is preparing for the F1 World Championship, which will start on the weekend of March 3-5 with the Bahrain GP. The Scuderia di Maranello is aiming for a rebirth after a last season below expectations, which started brilliantly and then ended in a difficult way. The Prancing Horse is now under the guidance of Frederic Vasseur, who has taken the place of the outgoing Mattia Binotto, and is ready to throw itself into the fight against the unleashed Red Bull (Max Verstappen has won the last two world titles) and the re-emerging Mercedes.

The technical departments are proceeding to assemble the single-seater which will hit the track in a month’s time for the official tests. In January, Ferrari has planned three days of private testing at Fiorano with all the Ferrari drivers. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will have a full day at their home track, in order to remove the rust accumulated during the winter break and warm up the engines in view of the new competitive year.

The regulation requires that a previous car be used to the one that will then be the protagonist during the championship and therefore the SF-21 will be used, the most recent usable for this type of tests in which specific Pirelli tires are used for private tests. On the track we will also see Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Schwartzmanthe two reserves who will each have half a day at their disposal (the two will alternate as reserve-drivers on the race weekends).
