«Judo leaves Luino. Luino evicts us. After 39 yearsmany city councils, many sports councilors, many promises of a new venue for judo, we have collected only nice words and no deeds”: these are the words that open the bitter outburst of the master Leonard Maranowho has been practicing this noble martial art for 55 years and helped found the Judo Bu-Sen Luino association in 1983.

«The Sport and Leisure Culture Office has us for the new sports season renewed a lease for the gym space within the primary school of Luino Centro until December 22nd, after that nothing… we have to go – says the master – E after many years they told us the space where we are it is not workable».

A direct confrontation with the Sports councilor Ivan Martinelli had resulted in the prospect of checks by the ATS to try to solve the problem, «but in reality nothing happened – says Marano – In all these years the judo association has changed as many as five gyms, up to this last modest venue, which was enough for us in the end».

The headquarters in via Goldoni had been created within the spaces of the building in which the Luino Cap primary school complex is located, so much so that the changing rooms present, as the teacher explains, were those of the students, redone in 2018 by the municipal administration with new showers and toilets, but «with unfinished and wrong work which I, as president, reported to the Technical Department several times. But nothing was done anymore. They remained the changing rooms without benches and coat hangersa few benches later I brought it, but the discomfort was there and often the boys put the clothes on the floor. When the showers were used, the changing rooms flooded, because the floor slopes I am wrong».

«The lighting – continues Marano – is still entrusted to a light bulb with a “flying” wire. I won’t go into details, but over time the environment has been increasingly neglected and degenerate. The entrance to the gym has become a warehouse and since September I’ve been reporting the cold water in the showers, but no answers. The photos I enclose (visible in the gallery, ndr) speak for themselves”.

«I have never asked for a sports hall, but I deserved a gym space for judo and everyone promised me that. I officially thank the senator and former mayor Andrea Pellicini who supported judo as much as he could, others contacted me only on the occasion of the elections – continues the number one of Bu-Sen – We are a sporting reality that has made Luino known and practiced judo to thousands of people, especially at the youth level. We have had national champions and prestigious medals. The Bu-Sen School has created technicians and 37 black belts. In Luino we organized well ten trophies of beautiful judo, entitled “Trofeo città di Luino”, in places that are not accessible, and due to the lack of a sports hall we had to stop. We are known in Italy, but not loved in Luino».

«Now we have to move on and not end up with judo, and also improve ourselves, was our reaction. We leave Luino and we move to Germignaga», in a room made available by the Emotion gymnasium and inaugurated last December 22 together with all the boys, as Marano recounts in his heartfelt thanks to the administrator, Giuseppe Cozzi, and his partners: «With the boys, in addition to the beautiful , we find the human and sporting warmth that is auspicious to continue and grow with our beautiful discipline and sport of judo”.

In the meantime Judo Bu-Sen Luino has also renewed the Board, with the election of the new board who will remain in office for the “Olympic four-year period” held on 30 November. These are the members: Leonardo Marano, president; Marco Barozzi, vice president; Daniela Parini, secretary; Elena Benecchi, technical adviser; Alberto Marano, athlete adviser; Alessio Acuzio, adviser; David Kocsar, adviser.

And a choice of the new Board was also that of keep the company name still as Judo Bu-Sen Luino ASD, as a sign of respect for its history and for all the citizens of Luino. «I invite all the friends and associates of judo who have known us in all these years to come and visit us and give voice to our story», is the exhortation of the master Leonardo Marano.
