Journalist says she suffered miscarriage on live broadcast

Journalist Lisa Guerrero revealed that she suffered a miscarriage on live television. In her memoir, she said she still worked as a reporter and broadcast a game for the Monday Night Football program on American ESPN.

An excerpt released to People magazine points out that Lisa kept the abortion a secret for fear of prejudiced comments.

On January 24, 2003, when she was 12 weeks pregnant, Lisa was covering a game when she was airborne in the middle of a game. At the time, the journalist suffered misogynistic comments from colleagues and interviewees.

“The people who knew what was going on with [meu chefe] Freddie and those reading how I was being treated in the media were already looking at me with pity. I was a shell of myself. And I felt so ashamed and embarrassed that the last thing I was going to say is, ‘Oh, and by the way, I just had a miscarriage.’ Most of my best friends will learn about it by reading the book,” he stated.

“The miscarriage wasn’t because of Freddie, and it wasn’t because of a radio show host or a bad column. It was the culmination of an entire season of negativity and cruelty. It was really cruel,” he added.
