Jeux du Québec: everything is in place in Abitibi-Ouest for the regional final

Nearly 700 athletes will meet in La Sarre and Macamic to compete for honors in ten disciplines, including karate, badminton, curling and figure skating.

Initially, 14 sports were to be on the agenda, but the pandemic forced the organizing committee to review the offer.

Note that the ski competitions will be held on January 28 in Rouyn-Noranda, at the Évain cross-country ski club and at Mont Kanasuta, since Abitibi-Ouest does not have the required infrastructure.

“Exceptionally, we should have held this centralized regional final last January, but COVID-19, being what it was, we had to postpone the edition to this year. For curling, the place will be confirmed a little later, but for sure there will be men’s and women’s curling. We work very hard.”

– Cécile Poirier, event coordinator.

The organization is always looking for volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the competition.

The opening ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday evening, will include a free show for the public and the athletes.
