After Liverpool’s bitter 3-1 defeat at Brentford, there was still plenty to talk about.
Sky experts Jamie Carragher (44) and Gary Neville (47) fought live on TV after the game. They had different opinions – and made this known openly.
Zoff of the England legends live on TV!
Jamie Carragher played for Liverpool from 1996 to 2013 – and is accordingly an absolute club legend. The same applies to Gary Neville at Manchester United, who played for the “Red Devils” from 1994 to 2011.
Given the great rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool, it’s no surprise that the two occasionally tangle. So also this time.

After the game, the two discussed the Liverpool owners. Recently there have been reports that coach Jürgen Klopp’s club is getting new bosses. Sky Sports pundit Neville said: “The most important thing for Liverpool is to keep Jurgen Klopp and find new owners – the right owners.”
Carragher didn’t agree. He replied, “They don’t need new owners. Just let it be. They have won absolutely everything there is to win by being skillful. They don’t need new owners.”
Neville replied: “They’re selling the club!”. Carragher saw it differently and counterattacked: “No, no, no. Even if they don’t leave, Liverpool have had owners who could have won anything and were clever in the transfer market. They didn’t just squander money like your club. This is absolute nonsense.”
Neville replied, irritated, “What are you talking about?” Carragher then fired back, “You say they need the money, they don’t need new owners.”
Despite his colleague’s attacks, Neville was undeterred: “I said they needed the right new owners.”
Liverpool were put up for sale by Fenway Sports Group in November last year. However, it is not known if the club is in talks with potential buyers.
It certainly wouldn’t be the last time Neville and Carragher discussed this topic…
