Located in the 8e district, near the town hall and the Maison de la danse, the Kennedy block project includes, over 21,000 m², the new Kennedy school complex with a green schoolyard, the Ateliers de la danse, a creative space and shows related to the Maison de la danse, two projects already presented last October and this new sports complex.
Its construction was entrusted to the architects a+ samueldelmas and Tallandier Architectes Associés. Covering 6,000 m², the building will bring together many sports activities open to the neighborhood, starting with an indoor public swimming pool in an area with few water sports facilities.

An indoor swimming pool

It is made up of 2 learning pools (one 25 X 15 m with 6 lanes, the other 15 X 8 m), as well as a paddling pool, for schools, clubs and adults. audience. Zen and soft atmosphere thanks to the wood used for the structure which recalls the Scandinavian thermal baths.
Above, a gymnasium open to schools and clubs includes 3 spaces.

A multi-sport gymnasium

This large space of 44 x 24 m allows practice of handball, basketball or badminton. Wood is also very present through a framework made up of double beams between which are inserted lighting devices and separating curtains. The bleachers are concrete with wooden seats.

Un dojo

Located on the R+2, the dojo is mainly dedicated to the practice of martial arts. Its aesthetic is inspired by Japanese Zen and refers to the culture of martial arts.

A climbing wall

A climbing wall is attached to the gymnasium, on the north interior gable of the building. The climbing area rises up to 14 meters in height. This space is autonomous and can therefore open when the rest of the equipment is closed. It is intended for sports clubs as well as schools.

A sports garden

The project also includes an outdoor sports garden of 2160 m² consisting of a multi-sports ground and a bike course, dedicated to learning to cycle. It was designed to be both playful and sporty. The planting of 54 trees is planned in the continuation of Square Varichon.
The multisport field is covered with permeable soils on almost all surfaces to fight against heat islands and allow runoff water management. The bike course is in an atmosphere of undergrowth. The cycle path meanders around planted mounds making learning to cycle fun.
Finally, a multifunctional outdoor amphitheater that can be used as a beach for the swimming pool in summer, but also as an outdoor stage for dance performances, shows or other school events provides the link between the different programs of the block.
