Thai National Team managed to beat Malaysia 3-0 in the semi-final second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup at the Thammasat Stadium, Pathum Thani, Tuesday (10/1).

With this victory, Thailand won 3-1 on aggregate over Malaysia in a duel in the semifinals of the 2022 AFF Cup.

The War Elephant State Team managed to excel in the 19th minute through Teerasil Dangda’s goal. Dangda managed to score with a header after following in from Theeraton Bunmatan’s cross from the left.

In the 28th minute, the coaches from the two teams, namely Kim Pan Gon and Alexandre Polking, received a yellow card from referee Adham Makhadmeh from Jordan. Both received yellow cards for excessive protest.

Meanwhile, Malaysia got its first best chance in the 36th minute through Darren Lok’s header after taking advantage of a cross from Muhammad Fazly Bin Mazlan. Unfortunately, Lok’s header was caught by Thai goalkeeper Kampon Phatomakkakul.

Until the first half of the match ended no additional goals were created. Thailand won 1-0 over Malaysia in the first round and made a temporary aggregate score of 1-1 after the Malaya Tiger Team won 1-0 in the semifinal first leg in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (7/1).

In the second half Thailand still dominated the game. In the 55th minute, Bordin Phala’s shot from inside the Malaysia penalty box after connecting on Ekanit Panya’s cross managed to bring Thailand 2-0 up.

In the 60th minute Malaysia threatened Thailand’s goal through Faisal Halim’s hard shot from outside the penalty box. But his shot was still narrowly over the crossbar Thailand.

Thailand managed to increase the lead to 3-0 through Adisak Kraisorn’s goal. Kraisorn managed to continue his own kick which hit the crossbar to be turned into a goal against Malaysia.

Adisak Kraison has the chance to add a goal in the 80th minute. However, Adisak’s efforts to dribble alone found a dead end after there were no other Thai players in the Malaysian defense.

Even though they were already 3-0 up, Thailand did not relax their attacks either. In the 87th minute Peeradol Chamrasamee opened fire but was caught by goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi.

Peeradol again created danger for Malaysia in the 90th minute after placing his right foot’s shot only slightly sideways on the left side of the visitors’ goal.

Without additional goals in the remaining matches, Thailand won 3-0 over Malaysia. The victory made Thailand get rid of Malaysia with an aggregate of 3-1.

This sweet result made Thailand qualify for the 2022 AFF Cup final and meet Vietnam. The first leg of the final will be held at home to Vietnam on Friday (13/1). While the second leg final will be held on Monday (16/1).
