Good resolution for athletes in 2023: synchronized swimming

II don’t know about you, but there’s no getting around these good resolutions for the new year. The astonishing fact that ten million Germans are members of a fitness studio has nothing to do with it but good intentions. At no time are more contracts signed than at the beginning of a year. The trouble is that good resolutions quickly evaporate. But not the expensive gym contract. I won’t fall for it this time.

As far as my sporting activities are concerned without a gym, new, unexpected possibilities will open up in 2023. Even taking part in the Olympics is no longer out of the question. If I may explain briefly: I love triathlon, but I don’t like swimming. That’s because I’m hardly making any headway compared to my competitors, even in the senior field. I kind of swim in place, which isn’t exactly ideal in this sport. But now, thanks to the International Olympic Committee, I’m considering a reorientation towards synchronized swimming, a spot-on swim that will finally be opened up to men at the 2024 Olympics.

Sport helps with the Tinder date

It is clear that one should not fundamentally do without good intentions. Sport, done with body and mind, is good for health. And if you can believe a current study and the artificial intelligence used, it even has an effect in online dating. If a man exercises weekly, the likelihood of receiving a first message, for example on Tinder, increases by more than 50 percent compared to no sporting activity.

Conversely, there is no such effect. Women can do sports as much as they want, this has no influence on their first contacts. Whether there are sports that make online men particularly attractive to online women remained open and thus my question as to whether synchronized swimming is one of them. Or rather triathlon.

Back to the resolutions: Not just do more sport yourself, but also a gentle withdrawal from this football overkill and also from this Bundesliga radio roar on Saturday afternoons, which everyone thinks is so great. Not just football anymore, sometimes something else. The Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, for example, great cinema guaranteed.

Or the world league of break dancers in autumn in Paris. Or a dirty little bike race somewhere in Belgium that nobody knows. Or watch Carlsen play chess. Or in the snow with the freeriders, not with the pole riders. Simply further up than the last mountain station, deeper into the depths of the sport.
