Fortitudo Bologna will not participate in the next Champions Cup – OA Sport

Fortitudo Bologna will not be among the teams registered for the 2023 Champions Cup in baseball. The sensational news, which echoes San Marino’s non-participation, was announced by Pierluigi Bissa, the president of the Emilian club.

In an interview given to The Rest of the Pug, the number one of the Bolognese said: “It was a painful decision. We got the whole board involved. We finally decided to withdraw, because the formula is old and outdated. And it’s not worth it. Among other things, we will arrive at the Champions League match with a team that hasn’t been well-established. The start of the championship will be less than convincing”.

Then he added: “Speaking of the European Cup, we have a project. We are dealing with the international federation which has already shown the greatest interest”.

Finally Bissa concluded by saying: “The fact that we have come to the decision not to take part in the Champions League does not change our ambitions or our traditions. We will play to win the Scudetto, bring the title back to Bologna. Our general manager, Christian Mura, is hard at work setting up a first-rate group. We’ll start announcing the new ones soon.”

On the Italian front, in view of the Baseball Champions Cup 2023, which will be held in the Netherlands between Bussum and Amsterdam, the only team registered for the event will be Parma Baseball.
