This, according to Syamsuddin Umar, who is also a former coach who brought PSM Makassar to the 1999-2000 Indonesian League championship, is a typical ingenuity of European coaches.

Previously, Bali United won over PSM Makassar by two goals through Eber Bessa in the 27th minute from a free kick.

Then Ilija Spasojevic in the 54th minute through a penalty kick.

Bernardo Tavares immediately rotated the PSM Makassar players after trailing 2 – 0.

Willem Jan Pluim, Kenzo Nambu and Rizky Eka were added to the bench.

He replaced Ramadhan Sananta, Akbar Tanjung, and Muhammad Dzaky.

The change made by the Portuguese tactician added to the power of PSM Makassar.
