Floorball players from Ulbrok and Ķekava win in anticipation of the “play off” tournament

The main tournaments of the Latvian floorball championship in the upper league, first and second league are coming to an end. One of Pierīga’s teams has already guaranteed a place in the elimination tournament, others are still fighting for a ticket to the “play off” tournament, and the chances of continuing the fight for medals have already expired for others.

The floorball school “Masters”/Ulbroka team managed to add three points to their bag of points in two games of the weekend. At home, Ulbrokians lost 3:4 to Kocēni “Rubene” (Edžu Ceriņa and Tom Bitmani each 1+1), but on Sunday they beat “Bauska” 7:4 on the road, even though they lost 3:4 six minutes before the end of regular time (to Matīs Kristiāns Morozov 1+2).

In the penultimate game of the main tournament, the floorball players of “Ķekava” hosted the Bauska team at home and, thanks to five goals scored in the second period, celebrated a 6:3 victory (Klāv Janson 2+1, Markus Januševski 2+0).

On the other hand, the floorball club “SĀC” ended the regular season with two more losses, and on Friday experienced a record-breaking defeat of 2:28 against Cēsa “Lekringa” (1+1 for Dēvid Osīt). In the last match on Saturday, the Saulkrasti, Ādaži and Carnikavas team in Ādaži also lost to the tournament leaders “Valmiera” floorball players 7:15 (2+0 to Kristaps Ušvili, 1+2 to D.Osīt).

In the tournament table, when most teams have 1-2 games left, the first two places are occupied by FBK “Valmiera” and “Lekrings” (44 points each), however, the Česi team has one game left, and the Valmiera team has two. The leaders are followed by FS “Masters”/Ulbroka (41 points and two remaining games) and “Ķekava” (38 points and one more game). FBK “SĀC” ends the tournament in the penultimate tenth position (three wins in 20 matches and 9 points).

In the Latvian first league, the “SĀC” team is not doing much better – the loss to the floorball club “Valka” 5:12 was already their twelfth in 13 games of the season (3+0 for Jānis Boroduška). However, “Ķekava Bulldogs” achieved their fifth success in 15 matches on Saturday – 7:3 over “Legions”/Grobina Sports Center (2+0 for Sven Baldoi, 1+2 for Mārtiņš Urtān).

On the other hand, in the second league of Latvia, the floorball players of the Inčukalna sports club “Coyote” beat the floorball club “Kalsnava” 13:5 (6+3 for Guido Bišer, 1+6 for Mārtiņš Zicman) and improved their position in the fight for a place in the elimination tournament.

The tournament of the Latvian ladies’ floorball superleague has taken a short break. This is related to the participation of the Latvian national team in the qualification tournament of the world championship, which will take place from January 31 to February 4 at the Kocēni Sports Hall. The opponents of the home team in the fight for three tickets to the final tournament will be floorball players from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain. Two “FK Ķekava” floorball players are also included in the Latvian national team – goalkeeper Kristīne Kirilova and defender Kristiāna Elizabete Krūmiņa.
