Competition imposes on both the minimum punishment stipulated in the Disciplinary Code for “producing violently outside the game, not being able to dispute the ball or stopped play”

Ferran Torres and Stefan Savic were sanctioned this Wednesday with a two-game suspension for their fight during the match played last Sunday between Atlético and Barcelona at the Metropolitan. The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) imposed this punishment on the Barça striker and the rojiblanco defender after the direct red cards shown to both by referee Munuera Montero in the 92nd minute.

Competition has sanctioned Ferran Torres and Savic with the minimum punishment provided for in article 130.2 of the FEF Disciplinary Code, which stipulates that “two to three games will be sanctioned to occur violently outside the game, not being able to play the ball or the game stopped”.

According to Munuera Montero, Savic “continuously held an opponent (Ferran Torres) by the neck with his arm with excessive force,” while the Valencian Barça player “persistently grabbed the hair” of the mattress center-back, for which both were driven out.

Competition has dismissed the allegations presented by Barcelona considering that the facts described by the Andalusian referee in the minutes are in line with reality and there was no manifest material error by the referee. Pending a possible appeal by the Barça club before the Appeals Committee, Ferran Torres will miss Barça’s next two league games against Getafe and Girona, while Savic will not be able to play against Almería or against Valladolid.

Competition has also rejected the improper alignment of Robert Lewandowski requested by Espanyol after the Polish striker played with Barcelona in the league match corresponding to matchday 15 of the League.
