Dallas needs reinforcements and it seems that it will have them immediately. As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPNIt is likely that Dorian Finney-Smith and Josh Green will return to the courts this Wednesday, who have been away from the team’s dynamics for many games.
Finney-Smith, a starter and key player in Jason Kidd’s rotation, has missed the Mavericks’ last 14 games with a right adductor strain. Green for his part has not been able to participate in the last 20 games due to a sprained right elbow. There are many nights without them, something that has ended up causing some exhaustion in the rest of the players and a drop in the team’s performance until it has fallen in four of its five most recent games.
After working smoothly through the last training session, Finney-Smith explains to Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com his feelings for the return to the slopes.
“I felt good today, it’s the first time I’ve done a full workout. I have been playing one against one and three against three, but I have felt good and tomorrow I will see how I am. I think I’ll play in the next game. I don’t like sitting down. I think that is the most games I have missed since COVID. I’ll probably be out of shape, but I’m going to make some noise and help the team. I have to be that guy who speaks up on defense,” he says.
The forward is not without reason. If the Mavericks need anything, it’s finding a new defensive boost. Since he and Green have been gone, the team has fallen to 25th in defensive rating, conceding 114.7 points per 100 possessions.
