Diego Epifanio (Leyma Coruña): “San Pablo Burgos has a brutal squad”

Epi does not hide that it will be a special match for him, as it is for Javi Vega, but that does not divert his focus and he will try to make his Leyma Coruña, who is tied for nine victories with the azulones, add one more and consolidate himself in the play-off places. Before the game that will face both teams this Friday -9:00 p.m.- in Galician lands, Diario de Burgos chatted with Epi about the new reality of San Pablo, the aspirations of Coruña and a LEB Oro that promises strong emotions in the second round.

Has the project that was promised to you last summer been found in La Coruña?
Yes, I think everyone involved is very excited. They make us all feel comfortable in the club and the city, although there are still some things to improve.

Your team has won four of the last five games and was on the verge of surprising Palencia, is it at the best moment of the course?
I think that every time we understand better what we have to do to win in this highly competitive league. It has been difficult for us to make good decisions in the last quarters and in that sense we are growing. We are a better team than two months ago, although we can still do more things. In the summer we tried to sign several players and we couldn’t compete financially with other teams, so we brought in others who gave us that quality we were looking for, but who didn’t know the league. That needs a process.

Is there a favorite for Friday’s game?
There is no doubt that the squad that San Pablo has is for it to be in all games. It has the best squad in the competition along with Andorra. It is a brutal squad, in that sense there is no doubt. However, it is true that they are not at their best moment and come from a change of coach and several defeats, but a team of that quality always has to be favourites. If for that reason they are going to give us two more points I tell you that it is us, but it is not important. Each team arrives in a situation and we will do our best to win.
