“I would like to express my condolences to his family and friends. I am terribly sorry for what happened. It will haunt me for the rest of my life.” These are the words spoken in a video posted on social media by the Czech rider Ales Loprais, who yesterday ran over Livio Fassinotti, 69 years old from None (Turin) during the ninth stage of the Paris-Dakar. According to an initial reconstruction, Loprais would have hit the man who was taking a photo behind a sand dune. After the accident, as the organization of the Paris-Dakar announced, and from him, Loprais withdrew.
