On the last day, forward Jayson Tatum scored 33 points, had nine rebounds and six assists for the Boston team, who beat the Charlotte Hornets 122-106 after overcoming a 16-point deficit midway through the second quarter.
Tatum was supported by Malcolm Brogdon with 30 points, by Dominican Al Horford (16 cards, caught seven balls under the hoops and handed out six clearances) and Marcus Smart, author of 13 points.
For the Hornets, last in the Eastern Conference, LaMelo Ball had 31 points, seven rebounds and nine assists.
In another game, the Memphis Grizzlies posted their ninth straight victory with a 130-112 rout of the Indiana Pacers.
The success leaves Memphis tied with the Denver Nuggets for the top spot in the Western Conference with both teams going 29-13.
Desmond Bane scored 25 points with five 3-pointers included and Ja Morant finished with 23 points and 10 assists in the resounding victory for the Grizzlies.
Dominican Chris Duarte stood out for the Pacers with 25 cards, three rebounds and three clearances.
In Miami, Nigerian guard Gabe Vincent had 27 points and five steals as the Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks 111-95, who played without their star Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Vincent was one of five Heat players in double figures, followed by Victor Oladipo and center Bam Adebayo, who each scored 20 points.
In addition, Adebayo also caught 13 balls near the boards with two assists and Jimmy Butler added 16 points in 26 minutes on the court at Miami-Dade Arena.
Bobby Portis led Bucks scorers with 15 points while Jrue Holiday was held to just 12 points.
The Philadelphia Sixers beat the Utah Jazz 118-117 with 30 points and seven rebounds, including Joel Embiid’s game-winning basket in the final seconds.
James Harden with 31 cards, six balls caught under the hoops and 11 assists led the Sixers and Jordan Clarkson did it for the Jazz (38 points and nine rebounds).
