Sports journalists who have not revealed which club they are fans or followers are accused of being from ‘x’ or ‘y’ club, especially when they are so critical and strong enough to give their opinion. And in the case of Carlos Antonio Velezespecially in recent times, they have accused him of being a fan of millionaires.
In the past they have singled him out for being a defender of Nacional, giving very favorable comments about Junior and also to strongly attack Santa Fe and Cali. But before the end of the year 2022, the journalist himself recounted the teams he likes in the world of football and why he thinks so.

Obviously, everything was born within the framework of the criticism he made for the final of the BetPlay League 2-2022, saying that he considered Millonarios to be the team that deserved to reach the final and even win the title. That was one of his last appearances of the year on the Antena 2 program ‘Planeta Fútbol’.

In the midst of the reflection and analysis that he did about Millionaires and not having reached the final of the League, Vélez clarified that he is not a fan of the ‘ambassador’:
“I always believed that the final could have other types of teams, starting with Millonarios, and I’m not a fan of Millonarios. I have never been a fan of Millonarios”
And later, so that the rumors would stop growing and separate his heart from his comments as a soccer analyst, Vélez confessed that he was a fan of Once Caldas and ceased to be:
“The only team I had in Colombian soccer was called Once Caldas. And he said – I had it -, because that is part of my childhood, of my memories, which are already very old and very old.Now I’m tied to general football, international football and ‘football as football’, because this is my profession. And when you’re a professional, you can’t be thinking with feelings.”
For the journalist from Win Sports, RCN Radio and Canal RCN, it doesn’t matter who wins or loses in local soccer. But he analyzes and thinks according to his criteria: “In Colombia, I don’t care if one wins or the other wins, it doesn’t matter to me exactly the same. Let them lose, tie, whatever. I am here to analyze, they put me here to analyze and I have to be analyzing what I see.”.

At that time, in the radio program he was participating in, Henry ‘el Bocha’ Jiménez intervened and made a couple of jokes about Vélez’s soccer tastes in Colombia. And this led Vélez to say that he is a fan of teams abroad; Alianza Lima, because his wife is Peruvian and he has lived a lot in that country, and Real Madrid:
“I have never denied it, besides, I am from ‘the social mass’ of Real Madrid. That has nothing to do with Colombia. And nothing to do with Colombian clubs. I am a supporter of Alianza Lima in Lima, because I have half my life in Lima. But those are ‘cosmetic’ issues.But not where I practice the profession, it is that I do not practice the profession in Spain or Peru, I practice in Colombia and in Colombia I do not have a soccer team “
