Boxing world champion Usik reveals what his first salary was as a child

Almost every self-made millionaire, rather than inheriting it from his parents, has a story about a time when his income was much more modest.

Usyk received about 35 million US dollars for the rematch against British Anthony Joshua last year.

As the boxer himself revealed, in his childhood he worked literally for pennies.

“My first official salary – 39 or 37 hryvnias (99 or 94 euro cents). I worked on a farm in the village of Ribotina – I helped collect hay and graze cows. I was 11 or 12 years old then,” said Usik.

The famous Ukrainian wrestler is currently one of the highest paid boxers in the world.

True, until 2020, when he debuted in the much more prestigious super heavyweight division, Usyk’s total career earnings reached “only” four million US dollars.

35-year-old Usik has participated in 20 fights in the professional boxing ring and won all of them, ending 13 duels with a knockout.

Usik has been a European, world and Olympic champion in the amateur ring.
