Only buses go to the summit

hochtaunus – After weeks with partly double-digit temperatures, winter has returned to the Taunus. The snowfall of the past few hours has caused several centimeters of fresh snow in the highlands of the low mountain range. In the coming days it will remain wintry – that should attract many winter sports enthusiasts and day trippers to the Feldberg.

“Due to the expected high number of visitors, access to the Feldberg summit will be closed to individual traffic on January 21 and 22,” announces the Taunus Touristik Service. Further closures are possible depending on the traffic situation. The Verkehrsverband Hochtaunus (VHT) uses additional buses on line 57 in the direction of Großer Feldberg. The additional connections are available in the connection information of the VHT.

The trails in the Taunus Nature Park are currently not groomed. The lifts in the Feldberg municipality of Schmitten will probably not be able to run this weekend either. The snow phone of the Oberreifenberg lift system (0178/3147564) is manned when it is in operation, otherwise there is a recorded message. A snow light also provides information about the current status. For technical reasons, the lift system in Treisberg will only be in operation from the end of January, according to those responsible.
