Berry judoka Alban Masia has died

The judo club of Saint-Amand-Montrond is in mourning. Alban Masia has just died accidentally, the day before his 38th birthday.

Born on December 27, 1984 in Bourges, he began judo at the age of 5 and a half in Saint-Florent-sur-Cher then in Vierzon. Black belt at 15, he is several times Cher champion in the lightweight category, selected for the French championships.

Although passionate about judo, he enlisted in the infantry, in Belfort (Territoire de Belfort) as a sniper before returning to the tatami mats in Vierzon and finding his former teacher, Michel Dubourg, who advised him to pass the state certificate to be able to teach.

In Japan, Professor Alban Masia has become a student again

In 2012, the president of the Saint-Amand-Montrond club at the time, Didier Béguet, called on him. He remained with the club for eight years, training twenty-one 1st dan, seven 2nd dan and four 3rd dan black belts. During this same period, he passed his State diploma for youth, popular education and sport (DEJEPS) which earned him the position of federal technical adviser for the departments of Aube and of Haute-Marne, while remaining licensed.

“As soon as he arrived at the club, Alban got involved without counting the cost, always with a smile,” says Didier Béguet. He left his mark on the club. With his good humor, he immediately attracted sympathy. He lived judo. We will pay tribute to him during the recovery.

Another tribute will be paid to him, on January 13, in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, on the occasion of the ceremony of the vows of the departmental committee.
His funeral took place on Tuesday.
