dreams. An apprentice at JSM Basket. In its “forward march”, the JSM basketball does not want to forget anyone. Especially not those who have an all-consuming passion for basketball. Laureen Imbert, 18, is one of them.

Impossible, for her, to escape her destiny with a father, a mother, a brother, uncles and cousins ​​who share the same passion. “At 2 years old, I was already on the court to evolve in micro-basketball, it is what precedes the mini-basketball”, evokes the interested party. “From that moment, my path was mapped out. I accompanied my father when he played and he was the one who coached me. »

make it his job

No wonder that today, a student in BJEPS, basketball option, she wants to make it her job. For an apprenticeship in alternation with times of presence at the JSM basket, with, for tutor, Quentin Lefrère, technician of the club.

“At the training center, fourteen hours a week, I work on four modules. The characteristics of the public welcomed and the legal framework in which to make them evolve. Communication and animation projects. The more specific basketball animation. The technique. For the rest and to complete her thirty-five hours per week, Laureen benefits from the training provided by Quentin Lefrère. “I take part in monitoring and preparing training for all categories. More specifically, I am regularly evaluated on the U11 category for which I am responsible. Quentin brings me a lot in terms of technique and the constant evolution of this sport. I also have the chance, outside the reference of my training, to benefit from the skills of Anaël Lecomte, the second employee of the club, in terms of physical preparation. »

For his part, his tutor praises the qualities of his protege. “She is very determined, very involved. She is fully in her life project. It is very easy to instil the values ​​of a sports educator in terms of know-how and interpersonal skills. The icing on the cake, perfectly in line with the club’s projects, she wishes to invest herself fully in the development of women’s basketball. »

At the end of this school year and with the hope of validating her diploma, she wishes to “stay at the JSM where I also play, as a player, with the senior first team. In addition, I plan to prepare the BPJEPS APT (Activities for all), then a diploma which would allow me to coach at the regional level, before hoping, why not, to coach at the national level”.
