Australian Open 2023: Novak Djokovic trains in Melbourne with tape on his left thigh

Novak Djokovic had already ended a session with Daniil Medvedev the previous week, but last Friday he fully completed the training match “The Arena Showdown” against Nick Kyrgios.

Djokovic: “Struggled a bit with it”

Still, Djokovic was a little worried about his thigh.

“To be honest, I’ve been struggling a bit with it for the past seven days,” admitted the superstar on the media at the Australian Open, referring to the small injury to his left thigh that he suffered when he won the tournament in Adelaide at the beginning of the year.

But this is “fortunately not a big problem. So far I’ve been able to train, take part in competitions and play points and sets,” explained Djokovic.

“I’m happy that he’s fit again and will play the first round on Tuesday,” he said Eurosport expert Boris Beckerwho coached the 21-time Grand Slam champion from 2013 to 2016.

Djokovic starts his title mission with Roberto Carballés Baena from Spain (Tuesday from approx. 11:00 a.m. CET live on Eurosport 1 and discovery+).
