AS Roma: big upheaval in Mourinho’s workforce?

AS Roma, which is having a disappointing first half of the season in Serie A (7th in the standings), would like to part ways with many players this winter. Several elements of the workforce are concerned, in the hope of repatriating 50M euros to the coffers of the Italian club.

Author of a very attractive transfer window in the summer of 2022, with in particular the arrivals of Paulo Dybala, Georginio Wijnaldum, Nemanja Matic and Andrea Belotti, AS Roma is nevertheless struggling in Serie A. club led by José Mourinho, who won the Europa League Conference last season, is out of European places, mid-season. The club, 7th in the Italian championship, has as many points as 5th, Lazio, and is only six behind the 2nd and 3rd, Juventus and AC Milan. A delay which is not prohibitive, therefore, but which should not worsen.

For this, the sports director of AS Roma, Tiago Pinto, has a plan: a lot of sales, to finance arrivals.

50M euros to be recovered with sales

According to information from the Italian newspaper of the Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma would have the firm intention to separate, in the first place, from Rick Karsdorp. The 27-year-old Dutchman, cold with his coach José Mourinho, was cited on the side of OM, but also at Juventus, via an exchange. Fulham would also be on the lookout.

Justin Kluivert (23), successfully loaned to Valencia, Spain (13 games, 3 goals, 2 assists), could definitely stay with the 11th in La Liga this winter. The sum of 10 million euros could do the trick. The 27-year-old Uzbek striker, Eldor Shomurodov, who plays very little this season at AS Roma (8 games, 2 goals, 1 assist), will not be retained, while Torino is thinking of him.

Finally, the Uruguayan Matias Viña could leave, just like the Spaniard Gonzalo Villar, on loan this season to Sampdoria. Italian Nicolo Zaniolo has also been cited for AC Milan.
