The fisherman was number 67 in the competition of 71 participants, the Latvian finishing in 56.16 seconds, which gave him the 46th position out of 50 finished alpine skiers. He was 1.55 seconds behind the top 30 who will start later in the second race.

The Austrian Manuel Fellers was the fastest on the first track, who finished in 52.18 seconds, or 3.98 seconds faster than Zvejnieks.

Zvejnieks secured the right to compete in the World Cup stages in slalom after entering the top 150 skiers in the world ranking of the International Skiing Federation (FIS). Before that, he finished sixth and tenth in three races, but in two he did not complete the first run.
