Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes overcame the pain to help his team defeat the Cincinnati Bengals and advance to Super Bowl LVII.

A week earlier, in the conference semi-finals against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the star player suffered a sprained ankle.

“It really didn’t feel good,” Mahomes confessed on Sunday, after defeated the Bengals 23-20.

“I fought the pain and I have a few weeks to be ready [pour le Super Bowl].»

On the Chiefs’ last offensive streak in the American final, Mahomes made an important run that eventually allowed kicker Harrison Butker to make the winning field goal.

“I just tried to do everything I could to win,” he said. There were times when you could see that I couldn’t do what I wanted. I was, however, able to do enough on that last play to get the first down and out of bounds.”

Mahomes finished his duel with 29 completions on 43 attempts for 326 yards and two touchdowns. He also did three races. On one of them, he dropped the ball and aggravated his injury.

“I think the worst was when I dropped the ball. I tried to pick it up, and that’s probably when my ankle twisted the most during the game.

Mahomes will have two weeks to recover before facing the Philadelphia Eagles and their tough defense in the NFL’s final game of the 2022 season.
