A few ways to entertain children in Auxerre during the winter holidays

Five weeks only after their return to school the day after the New Year, the young Auxerrois will be on vacation in eight days, Friday evening February 3. How to occupy them during these winter holidays? Some tracks.
Science in the spotlight in leisure centres. The five municipal leisure centers as well as the two community centers will welcome children from Monday 6 to Friday 17 February. More accustomed to having fun around artistic or sporting activities, the children will share in particular many scientific experiments, a new challenge within the framework of the joint project “Our dear friends” set up in the centers at the end of the health crisis.

Creative activities with Lézards des arts. The City’s Pays d’art et d’histoire service offers two Lizards of the Arts workshops at the Abbey of Saint-Germain. One for making biscuit masks for 5-7 year olds, on one day on February 6,7,8 or 10 (from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.). Inspired by sculptures from the cathedral, participants will create masks to decorate with chocolate or sugar balls. The other will invite those aged 8 and over to invent a story and create an animated film based on works from the art library, over five half-days from February 13 to 17 (from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or from 2 p.m. to 17 hours).

Another possibility is to borrow equipment to do an activity at home based on artists’ videos visible on Youtube. On the menu, creation of modellings, shortbread cookies, prints or computer drawings.

Family workshops and a new exhibition at the Museum. The natural history museum presents a new exhibition called “In colors”, from February 5 (until July 7). The opportunity to discover the diversity and the role of colors in nature through certain treasures taken from the reserves, minerals, stuffed animals, insects, shells… At the same time, four free parent-child workshops are offered. With a facilitator, participants will create animal models (5-8 years old), an electric game (6-10 years old), kaleidoscopes (7-10 years old) or birdhouses (7-12 years old).

Inflatable structures at Auxerrexpo. As usual during school holidays, Auxerrexpo will be transformed into a giant leisure park from February 6 to 19. 80 inflatable structures and pedal go-kart tracks will await young people (dedicated area for under-5s). Catering on site.
