5.2 million euros from the Pnrr are on the way for new school gyms in the Chietino area

Chieti. The province of Chieti has been awarded two important loans from the Pnrr equal to 5.2 million euros for the construction of two new gyms, one in the Pantini-Pudente high school campus, home to the Vasto art school and the other in the vocational school “De Giorgio” of Lanciano, both on areas owned by the province of Chieti.

“Another good news that I welcome with great satisfaction, the result of the great teamwork of the provincial administration which, together with the offices that I thank, has worked to achieve this important result”, said the president of the province of Chieti, Francesco Menna underlining that the two new gymnasiums will be equipped with a regulation field for basketball and volleyball, grandstands and bleachers for spectators, toilets for athletes and spectators and other functional areas for sport and social aggregation.

“In welcoming this news with joy, I would like to underline”, added the councilor with responsibility for school construction, Davide Caporale, “that since our establishment we have paid the utmost attention to the schools within our competence in terms of building safety, healthiness of places and in giving students more suitable and functional spaces. Several interventions have been carried out in this first year of the mandate, not least the funds obtained equal to approximately 160 thousand euros for the placement in nine schools of 270 air purification and sanitization devices to safeguard the health of students from the Covid19 infection , from bacteriological and viral agents and from indoor pollution”.

“The two new gyms”, highlighted the councilor with responsibility for sport and sports facilities, Sergio Furia, “will be at the service not only of the schools, but also of local associations and sports who will thus have more space available for their multiple activities. The objective of the Pnrr tender was to encourage sports activities and correct lifestyles in schools, reducing the existing infrastructural gap in this regard, strengthening sports activities and infrastructures so as to encourage social inclusion and strengthen personal aptitudes. An objective that we will fully achieve with the creation of these two new gyms”.

“Now”, concluded President Menna, “the next step is to quickly start the next phases in order to deliver the new gyms to schools and communities as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue our path of attention to schools because investing in the future of our girls and boys and investing in the buildings responsible for their growth and training is equivalent to strengthening the future of our society”.
