3rd league: 1860 separates from coach Köllner – Sport

Third division soccer team 1860 Munich has reacted to its negative sporting trend and parted ways with coach Michael Köllner. The traditional club announced this on Tuesday after the previous evening’s defeat against Dynamo Dresden (1: 2). For Köllner, the previous sports director Günther Gorenzel takes over the coaching position at the lions on an interim basis.

“Despite many discussions and joint work on problem areas, the desired development of the team has not materialized, and patterns that were already recognizable before the two-month winter break keep coming to the fore,” Günther Gorenzel explained the step: “We don’t just see Our goals for the season are in acute danger and we are therefore forced to act.”

Former Bundesliga coach Köllner took over as coach at the Löwen in November 2019. In the past two seasons, the team has finished fourth twice in a row. After only four points from the last seven competitive games, 1860 is currently in sixth place.
