Zverev wins the next match at the show tournament

After his victory over Novak Djokovic, Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev also won his second singles at a show tournament in Dubai.

According to the organizers, the 25-year-old from Hamburg won 6: 4, 6: 2 against the Italian Andreas Seppi, who had actually already retired. Zverev thus led his team to victory again. Previously, Wimbledon champion Jelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan had won 7: 5, 6: 1 against French Caroline Garcia for the Zverev team.

The top German player made his comeback in Saudi Arabia two weeks ago after a serious foot injury he sustained at the French Open in Paris in early June.

At the team tournament in Dubai, the German number one won against the former world number one Djokovic from Serbia. The day before Christmas Eve, Zverev was originally supposed to face Nick Kyrgios. It was initially not known why the Australian only played mixed instead.

The top two out of four teams make it to the final on Christmas Eve. The group phase was completed on Friday evening. Before the last game, Zverev’s team led the table.
